Throughout time, artists have been influenced by the situations and environments in which they find themselves.  I am no exception.  I had the extraordinary fortune of being the primary caregiver for my son as an infant.  This series reflects my fascination with the voluntary and involuntary marks that children make – spills, sprays, and handprints.

The Asian influences are evident in the floral elements and the spare, geometric composition.  While I have always admired Asian art, my son’s studies of Chinese as a second language led to a reintroduction to this work.  I have taken liberties with these elements and transformed them into a sophisticated use of color with formal elements that contribute to the overall presentation of the work.
